Putting down roots

Yesterday sealed it. I am not leaving Orange County in 2008.  First I got the good news about my company seeking venture capital.  Its a very comforting fact because that means there is going to be considerable growth here over the next few years.  To me that means leaving now would be to not realize the potential of the position which would be unfortunate unless I was going to somewhere with considerably more potential with a great chance of it being actualized.

Second I had one of the most fun nights I’ve had since I’ve lived in California.  My neighbors are so much fun to party with its scary.  We are all on the same page and just got wild on a wednesday night in Costa Mesa.  We didnt even have to drink much because we were feeding of each others energy and so were a lot of the people around us. We met a bunch of people and just really had a great time.  I’ve been looking for a situation like that for a long, long time.  Not going to give it up any time soon now that I’ve found it.

SUPERBOWL

Well, it feels good. Its almost surreal. The Giants are in the superbowl this year.  What have we learned?  In a word Character.

People have knocked Eli since the day he was drafted. But you know what, he never gave up in spite of all that negativity. Neither did the Giants organization or their coaching staff. I must say there was a point there where I was even waivering in my support but you know, I wore that Manning jersey every Sunday for the last 2.5 years.  Why? He’s our damn quaterback thats why. And you have to support him no matter what.  The Giants showed faith and stuck with what they believed to be right.  And Eli went to Tampa and Dallas and Green Bay…and WON. HALLELUJAH

People have knocked Coughlin for the last 3 years as well. First for not making the playoffs.  Then for not showing up in the following two playoff games.  Keith and I have complained about the bad play calling on both sides of the football.  After last season we called for Coughlin to be replaced.  But this past off season the Giants fired both coordinators and replaced them with new ones. They believed in Coughlin and his character. And Tom went to Tampa and Dallas and Green Bay…and WON. HALLELUJAH

Faith, loyalty, honesty, teamwork, hard work and character.  Thats what we can discern from this run by the Giants. No matter what happens in the future, they came together and did what no team in the history of football had ever done before to get to the superbowl despite steep odds and tough criticism.  Vindication.

Satisfaction will come when they win on Sunday.   I will be in Phoenix trying to scalp tix but it doesnt look so good right now.  I wont give up hope tho!

GO BIG BLUE!

Work world

Its become apparent that the job situation is really turning around.  My company is having record setting months now. Our forecast for 2008 is looking quite optimistic.  My department is operating at a much more efficient level than ever before even though we have doubled in size in the last few months. It feels good over all.  We still have some set backs and things to improve upon.  But if the company continues to grow over the next 6 months the way it has the last 6, I am going to find myself in a much more fortunate position than I expected to be in come summertime as recently as 3 months ago.  Sometimes patience is a virtue I guess.  I am still following up on the other career options that I have spoken about. But currently they are all tentative. I will post more as developments are made.

Back in the Swing

So somewhere between Thanksgiving and Hanukkah I get hit with these winter blues. I blogged about it before.  Now they are gone. I woke up this morning at 6 feeling fresh like I used to in the fall.  I ran about 3-4 miles around the complex and then down on the beach.  Its good to be alive again!

Weekend Update

Had a nice mellow weekend and got plenty of rest. Went to see Rambo and it was very awesome. It seemed pretty short though I dont know if that was just because I was so fired up.  It was what you expect: graphic, gory and violent. Also plenty of cheesy dialogue and hit you over the head cliche story about doing right against wrong.  But I love that cheesiness so if you can just chill youll have a great time watching it.
Saturday I had some friends visiting from LA and Minneapolis who were just brutal. They did nothing but complain the whole time and I couldn’t wait for them to leave. They cant all be winners right?  I took them to the sushi place and that was an awesome send off.

Sunday I just chilled and watched a ton of Naruto. I think I got through about 15 twenty minute episodes. hahah that show is great. They are all available on YouTube

RAMBOOOOOOOO

Is anyone else as fired up for the new Rambo movie as I am?  The last Rocky movie was arguably the best since the first.  I think this one should follow suit.

Here’s the official site

Crime and Amnesty

I really do not understand why people want to grant illegal immigrants amnesty.  By definition if you do something illegal, you are breaking the law and therefore a criminal. I have no problem with mexican people. In fact, after living in SoCal for 3+ years now I have come to look at them quite favorably and admire the culture and contribution the contribute to our society here.  However if you commit a crime you must serve the appropriate punishment.  If we give amnesty to illegal immigrants, who else do we give it to?  Tax evaders?  Thieves?  Murderers and Rapists?

No.  We have to be very clear on the laws of our land or they become meaningless.  There no reason to give illegal immigrants different treatment than any other criminal.   Immigration built our country and made it great.  To this day it is one of our strongest assests, always having a motivated and success driven section of society.  However there is a right and a wrong way to immigrate to this nation.  And whether we like the laws or not, we must abide by them.

Life is Amazing

The euphoria of the Giants victory is well in effect as I write this.  Life is incredible.  I can honestly say that I am happier now than I have ever been since my grandfather died when I was 16. I feel complete and whole again.  There is no glaring problem weighing me down and I feel like everything is going in a positive direction.  Family, friends, work, home…things are in order and I can not complain about anything.  A lot of this has to do with interaction with and learning from friends and people who care about me over the last 2 or so years that I have been living in socal.  So I have to thank all of you for being there for me. Word!
