How to Kill a Zombie
I know lots of people who are anti-walmart. They claim that they are evil, that they are the devil “incorporate”. They denounce their anti-union practices and refuse to shop there. Most of these same people dont have a problem shopping at K-Mart or Target tho. If you spend 10 minutes on google, you’ll find that the latter two are guilty of the same crimes as Wal-Mart but to a lesser degree. But Wal-Mart catches most of the flack from the media and general public.
Look at your outfit, your car, your coffee….everything we consume nowadays is the product of some large corporation. And all large american corporations keep lots of dust swept under their well-paid legal staff’s rug. Try googling “Starbucks + corrupt” or “Nike + corrupt” and you’ll see what I mean. So what is exactly the deal breaker that makes Wal-Mart subject to boycott?
Today is September 11th, which has some personal significance to each of us. To me it is a sad day not only because of the tragedies, but how much attention they acquire from us all. In 2006 we are told that some 2,700+ people died in the towers’ collapse. 2900+ US soldiers have died in Iraq, and probably 20 times as many Iraqis. Where is their memorial? Where are their moments of silence. check this site: http://icasualties.org/oif/
How about the people who’s lives who were so affected by our government that they would pull off such a sinister plot? What are they thinking? Has our government made ANY effort at all try understand what they did to piss them off so? How bad would things have to be before you would consider doing something like that? I bet if these people (terrorists) had a booming economy, quality education and a steady food supply, they wouldnt be plotting ways to fly planes into buildings….or at least not on our soil.
I dont want to turn this post into a bush-bashing or make light of the terrorist attacks. But it is a shame how the media influences peoples’ opinions in this country. They thwart the larger, more convoluted problems by making us focus on the smaller, easier to understand problems.
The only way to kill a zombie is to chop off its head.
We’re not going to defeat terrorism or corporationism by devising new technologies or protesting. Its going to happen by changing the way we Americans think and live, choosing our battles wisely, and maybe even voting.
its easy to point at something and say its wrong
its tough to figure out whats caused it to be wrong and do something about it
